Frequently Asked Questions
How long were you in Chad?
Almost all of my growing up years. We would do four years in Chad, one year in the USA, then another four years in Chad, and so on.
When did you come to the USA to stay?
I came for college/university when I was 18 years old and only went back for a couple visits since then.
What do you like most about Chad?
The sense of home/familiarity – that’s the biggest thing. I also miss the heat, the slower pace that allowed for lots of pondering life without distractions, and the strength and joy of people there.
Why were you there?
My parents were missionaries there. They have since retired and moved back to the US.
Can you speak a different language? If so, how many?
Yes, I speak French and Spanish -after English of course, and some German. I also studied Arabic but need to work on speaking it (interested in teaching me, anyone?).
Were you born in Chad?
No, but I was four months old when I arrived. I was born in France while my parents were completing language study there.
